The Incubator for Emerging Artists presents "Heliotropic,” a solo exhibition featuring cyanotype photography by local artist Courtney Lane. Drawing inspiration from her profound love for the natural world and a fervent dedication to conservation education, Courtney’s works seamlessly intertwine photography and cyanotype, embodying the ethereal beauty of her surroundings and her deep-rooted connection to the sun.

Recently settling in Durango in mid-2023 after spending four years living across the western United States, Courtney Lane's artistry has absorbed the essence of this new landscape, infusing her creations with a fresh vibrancy and perspective. She was recently featured at Rodeo Odyssey's art market pop-up from November to December 2023 where she premiered her cyanotypes in Durango, sharing her connection with and love for the sun and recent reinvention of her work as a film photographer. Join us on a visual journey through Courtney’s lens as she invites you to discover the intricate harmony between nature's wonders, the alchemy of light, and the passionate commitment to preserving the beauty that surrounds us.

“Naturalist John Muir Laws once said a working definition of love is, ‘sustained compassionate attention.’ This collection focuses on my sustained compassionate attention for the movement of plants, their relationship with the sun, and bringing them to life in cyanotype format.” - Courtney Lane

This exhibition made possible by Durango Creative District and Stillwater Music.
