Durango Creative District is thrilled to announce our next featured artist in the Incubator Emerging Artists Program—Nikki Moon!

Known for her impressionistic acrylic paintings and surreal illustrations, Nikki delves deep into themes of physiology, emotions, psychology, and personal mythology. Beyond the canvas, she’s also a talented tattoo artist and musician, constantly pushing the boundaries of creative expression. Her new exhibition, The Bounds We Share will explore our connection to the natural world through our spiritual, emotional, and physical experiences.

Join us on Friday, September 20th, from 5-8pm at The Light Box at Stillwater for this special opening with live music, drinks, small bites, and tea curated with each painting.

ARTIST BIOGRAPHY

Nikki Moon is an artist known for her impressionistic acrylic paintings and surreal illustrations that delve into themes of physiology, the somatic experience of emotions, psychology, and personal mythology. Her work embodies a deep reverence for the natural world and explores the universal laws and shared experiences that connect all living beings. Nikki studied at the Columbus College of Art and Design in Columbus, OH, and her art has been exhibited in various venues nationwide. Her artistic practice has been enriched by residencies, including those at Remote Residency in Colorado and Signal Fire in Oregon. In addition to her visual arts, she is a tattoo artist and devoted musician, expanding her creative expression into new realms.

Nikki is dedicated to teaching and leading workshops on art and medicinal plants, aiming to deepen the understanding of the human experience and our connection to one another in the natural world through creative expression. Her studies in herbalism further underscore her commitment to deepening her relationship with the land, a relationship highlighted in much of her work.

The Bounds We Share explores the connection to the natural world that we as humans embody, through the lens of our spiritual, emotional, and physical experiences. Portraying the artist's personal relationship to place through specific landscapes and with plants she is connected to, she theorizes what it means for all humans to be connected to nature by stretching and redefining the boundaries of our physical bodies.The Bounds We Share eludes to the shared connection not only among humans but also with the elements, specific plants, and etheric beings that also inhabit the complex ecosystems of our planet.” — Nikki Moon
